BadGirlsBling – Biker Owned Business

April 5, 2021 By Laurie Montoya Leave a Comment

BadGirlsBling is an independent women’s business that’s focus is finding women’s motorcycle accessories and apparel.  Our primary focus at BGB is in rhinestone handbags, jewelry, and clothing.  We scour suppliers from all over the country and abroad to find women’s items that they will not normally see at the events they attend.  In fact, some of our items would not be described as biker clothing at all, more stylish and trend setting.

Created in 2010 after being unable to afford the higher priced items I found at biker events, shows, or rallies.  There were many times that I would see something at an event and could not afford it that weekend, and I would not be able get it until the following year when I saw that vendor again.

BadGirlsBling set out in 2010 to be your local supplier in the Denver area that you would see at bike nights, events, and rallies locally.  BGB does not have a store front because I did not want the overhead that comes with a store that requires owners to add that cost on to customers.

I also found that many women related items and clothing did not fit my style or my size.  In general, most of the biker related clothing is made overseas and sized to fit the super petite woman.  I was not large, but when I went to purchase items, I suddenly felt bigger than I was.   When you go to a rally or vendor booth, most of your sales people really are not informative or knowledgeable about the products you are interested in.

At BGB, I personally wear and try on everything to ensure sizing is correct and that product are made to last.  I feel that I am the best advertiser and billboard for BadGirlsBling because as a woman I know what to expect from a product and how I want it to feel.

Since re-launching the business this year, we have received an overwhelming response from women riders thanking us for coming back.  We hope that you will take a moment to visit our website www.badgirlsbling.com or thru Facebook page.  We welcome you to see our collection of new items for 2021.

April 11th is the last Motorcycle Expo Swap for 2021

April 5, 2021 By Laurie Montoya Leave a Comment

The last Swap meet for the Expo this year will be April 11, 2021 at Dirty Dogs Roadhouse

UPDATE: The 2nd swap meet hosted by The Colorado Motorcycle Expo and Dirty Dogs Roadhouse in March was another record crowd and the weather again shined upon our biker community.   There was a better diversity of vendors selling everything from parts to amazing riding hats.

Sadly, this will be our final swap meet of the season.  Dirty Dogs Roadhouse is the #1 biker bar for a reason and with the warm weather and beautiful weekends to ride, they need both parking lots to accommodate customers.

On behalf of all the sponsors, Scott from The Colorado Motorcycle Expo, Rider Justice, Colorado Rider News, Mark & Rob and the staff at Dirty Dogs Roadhouse, we want to THANK YOU ALL.  This modified swap meet was a testament to the pride and unity the biker community feels for each other.

Our biker owned businesses were struggling in this pandemic as the events they heavily relied on to get them thru the winter are rescheduled, cancelled, or eliminated entirely.  We hope that these 3 months helped them get thru this tough time and get ready for any spring events they can find.

Please come out for the final swap meet on Sunday, April 11th from 10am to 4pm

A special THANK YOU to Nancy Starflower from Leather & Lace Studios for allowing us to use 1 of their photos in this month’s cover. We neglected to put her business card in the credit on the cover. CRN really liked this photo as it captured what riding in Colorado is about.

Letter from the Publisher – Spring is in the Air

March 10, 2021 By Laurie Montoya Leave a Comment

Laurie is Publisher and Editor of Colorado Rider News

March is here and with the warmer temperatures here, its hard to not start looking forward to spring rides, events and trying to get back to normal.  Today it was in the news that the governors of Texas and Mississippi both announced that TODAY they would be lifting their states’ mask mandates and rolling back many of their Covid-19 health mandates, just one day after the CDC warned against complacency in the face of emerging coronavirus variants.

The future of our motorcycle events in Colorado are beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel and more events are being added to our Event Calendar in the hopes that restrictions will continue to loosen up.

In this issue we will share with our readers The Colorado Motorcycle Swap Meet held at Dirty Dogs Roadhouse in February.  This was a combined effort of the Motorcycle Expo, Dirty Dogs Roadhouse, Rider Justice and Colorado Rider News whose only goal was helping our local biker owned business get thru these winter months due to the official Expo being postponed to 2022.

Colorado Riders News is proud to work with charities, riding groups and biker businesses to help promote your event.  Please visit our website and submit your event on our calendar and we will make sure it gets on the calendar at no-charge.

On a safety note, please ride safe out there, even with the beautiful weather, there is sand in the mountains and on the roads.  Watch the conditions of possible black ice in the shade.

As always enjoy the ride, let us know what we can do better and BE SAFE OUT THERE

Dirty Dogs Roadhouse – Message from Mark & Rob

March 10, 2021 By Laurie Montoya Leave a Comment

Dirty Dogs Roadhouse

Rob and I and all of our staff would like to thank each and everyone of you for helping Dirty Dogs Roadhouse STAY OPEN, with and during these COVID restrictions. We understand that all of us want to get back to normal.

We must ASK each and everyone of you to adhere to the guidelines set forth by the health department, such as social distancing, and WEARING YOUR MASK when you are not sitting at a table. We will be having staff strongly enforce this rule as this is what KEEPS US OPEN! During events such as the Swap Meet and other charity rides, the promoters will also have extra staff to make sure everyone is adhering to this mandate.

Your cooperation in this enables us to remain open and to continue to bring you great events and entertainment to Dirty Dogs Roadhouse. We look forward to a warm spring and great riding!

Colorado Swap Meet in February Has Record Crowds – NEXT EVENT March 20th

March 10, 2021 By Laurie Montoya Leave a Comment

Mother nature clearly loves the biker community and on February 20th the day of our 1ST modified swap meet at Dirty Dogs Roadhouse in conjunction with Scott from the Colorado Motorcycle Expo and Rider Justice and Colorado Rider News was confirmation that that in the biker world, “If you build it….THEY WILL COME”.

Swap meets at Dirty Dogs are regularly done in June and December with great vendors everywhere, Mark can be found roasting something to satisfy the overwhelming crowd.   It was unclear to all of us that even if the weather were nice, how many attendees would come out to support the biker owned business.

It was about 10am, that we got our answer, the parking lot was full up top, and drivers were parking on the side of Colfax all the way up past Wrigley’s.  Riders were walking around with the goods they had purchased, and you could see the guys carrying around parts to sell and parts they had bought

This modified swap meet is a testament to the pride and unity the biker community feels for each other.  Our biker owned businesses are struggling in this pandemic as the events they heavily rely on to get them thru the winter are rescheduled, cancelled, or eliminated entirely.  Scott Schultz from our Expo, Scott O’Sullivan from Rider Justice and myself met with Mark and Rob from Dirty Dogs Roadhouse to see if we could come up with an option to help these businesses, the modified swap meet was the option we all came up with that could help everyone.

The party continued long after the swap meet was over with riders and vendors staying around just to celebrate a day of normality and listening to great music.

After the event was concluded, we spoke with several of the vendor who said the swap meet was a god send, and would help them get thru the month.  Most said they would be back again in March and were so grateful for the opportunity to sell their items and make a few dollars.

If you are biker owned business and would like to participate in our March 20th swap meet, please visit the expo’s website at www.coloradomotorcycleexpo.com.  Good spots are still available

Full Throttle Distillery coming to Estes Park

March 10, 2021 By Laurie Montoya Leave a Comment

According to a Facebook Live video broadcast from downtown Estes Park in January, the Full Throttle Saloon, which some may know from the reality TV series of the same name, will be opening a distillery on Elkhorn Avenue in the coming year.

Michael Ballard stands at the bar of the visitors center of his Full Throttle distillery in Trimble, Tenn

Michael Ballard, owner of the Full Throttle Saloon is no stranger to the biker community in Sturgis. The Saloon is known as the largest biker bar in the world and is one of the main features of the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally that takes place every August.

Ballard was visiting Estes Park in January and immediately fell in love with Colorado and is quote in his Facebook Live video “ Look at this … look at how beautiful this place is,” said Ballard, remarking on the lights and charm of downtown Estes Park. “I don’t know if you have ever been to Estes Park, but it is beautiful.”

“I am in Estes Park, Colorado right now and we have been down here now for the past few days … I just bought this building here right behind me,” Ballard says while gesturing to Bob and Tony’s Pizzeria. “We’re going to be putting a Full Throttle Distillery in right here in downtown Estes Park.”

In the video, which currently has over 60,000 views, Ballard announces that he has purchased a property on Elkhorn Avenue in downtown Estes Park.

Full Throttle Distillery will offer riders who already visit Estes Park on a regular basis and location to call their own.  Ballard will offer more than just his distillery, it is reported that the building will indeed be turned into a distillery, Ballard says he is not getting rid of the pizza entirely.  “We’re still going to be keeping some of the pizza that’s here that they will also offer food and other Full Throttle clothing and souvenirs

On top of Bob and Tony’s Pizza, Ballard says he purchased another building outside of the downtown corridor, although it is still unclear exactly where that is.
