Letter From the Publisher – Third Quarter: 2018

October 8, 2018 By Laurie Montoya Leave a Comment

October is always the month that makes me wonder where the year went. The mountains are getting a dusting of snow and Christmas is only 90 days away. In a couple of weeks, I will begin BikerDown’s Adopt a Family for the Holidays, and in a blink of an eye, The Children’s Hospital Toy Run will be upon us. In the immediate minutes, hours and days after a motorcycle accident, people do the strangest things. Sometimes they act irrationally due to the burst of adrenaline in their bodies. Other times, they are simply naïve about their own injuries, or they innocently trust the other driver to take responsibility for the damages they caused. Dirty Dogs Roadhouse Celebrates 1-year anniversary

October 8, 2018 By Laurie Montoya Leave a Comment

Last year, two old school bikers set out to open a biker bar in Golden, CO at the Old Susie’s, and this October 13th will mark Rob and Mark’s 1-year anniversary. To bikers this was hallowed ground, and they wondered if the new owners would understand that history and preserve that old time biker flare with a fresh look. Freedom isn’t Free

October 8, 2018 By Colorado Rider News Leave a Comment

By: Don Enninga, ASM Instructor/ABATE of Colorado Northeast Coordinator

Freedom isn’t free. How many times have you heard this stated in conversations about our nation’s veterans, the military in general, our law enforcement and other patriotic settings and events? My Father was a WWII Veteran, and I have a great painting on my bike with “Freedom isn’t Free”, the American flag and an eagle as a tribute to him. Freedom in our country has been secured by millions of patriots like my Dad who proudly served our great nation. [Read more…] about Freedom isn’t Free

Focus on Giving

October 8, 2018 By Colorado Rider News Leave a Comment

BikerDown National announced on September 15th that they have taken a necessary step to help riders fundraise online here in Colorado and nationwide. BikerDown National has struggled for years on how to help injured riders outside of the state of Colorado more effectively. BikerDown currently receives on average 2-3 help requests per days from out-of-state riders. BikerDown calls on all help requests and tries to help the families or injured rider weed through the trauma that they are going through but has been powerless to give any financial assistance to riders outside of Colorado or their current chapters. Texas Jury Says It’s Illegal for Any Bandido To Possess Weapon

October 8, 2018 By Colorado Rider News Leave a Comment

By: David “Double D” Devereaux

A jury in El Paso, Texas decided Friday that it is illegal for a member of the Bandidos Motorcycle Club to possess a weapon in the state. DT, a member of the BMC in El Paso, was arrested October 16th, 2017 on his way to work for Unlawful Carrying of a Weapon. Although it was conceded by all sides that DT had no felony record and was not a convicted criminal, the prosecution argued, and the jury agreed, that merely being a member of the Bandidos was enough to consider an individual a gang member prohibited from exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. The Piper Inn

October 8, 2018 By Colorado Rider News Leave a Comment

By: Stormy

On September 21, Friday night around 5 p.m., after an afternoon motorcycle ride, we stopped at the Piper Inn, 2251 South Parker Road in Denver.

We parked our motorcycles in the designated area in front by the main door. Both sides of patio (non-smoking and smoking) were full as well as the bar and table inside. Lucky for us a patio table on the nonsmoking side opened for us to sit. [Read more…] about The Piper Inn
