Preventing Distracted Driving Accidents: I Am the Only Personal Injury Attorney in The Room

March 12, 2019 By Scott O'Sullivan Leave a Comment

Personal Injury Attorney Scott O'Sullivan speaks in favor of distracted driving laws in Colorado. For over three years, I have been working with Colorado Senator Lois Court to make Colorado’s roads safer through legislation to reduce distracted driving. Thankfully, we’re making tremendous progress and 2019 could be an important year in our fight to end texting-while-driving in Colorado. Patch Trial: Verdict Supports Club Rights

March 12, 2019 By Colorado Rider News Leave a Comment

By: Stephen “Bowtie” Stubbs – Mongols MC, General Counsel

On February 28, 2019, Federal District Court Judge David O. Carter upheld the Constitution and stood strong in support of the 1st Amendment when he declared that the United States Government could not seize and ban the use of the Mongols Motorcycle Club’s patch. At stake was the essence of the 1st Amendment- the ability to freely wear expressive symbolic speech. [Read more…] about Patch Trial: Verdict Supports Club Rights

Distracted Driving in Colorado: I’m Still Fighting the Good Fight

February 2, 2019 By Scott O'Sullivan Leave a Comment

Scott talks with Susan Dane before testifying in favor of SB19-012 on January 24, 2019.

For several years now, I have been working with Susan Dane of CORD
and with Colorado Senator Lois Court to end distracted driving in Colorado. We’ve had some successes: it is now illegal to text while driving in Colorado and we were able to increase the fines last year to levels that should change behaviors. Should I Call the Police After an Accident?

December 9, 2018 By Scott O'Sullivan Leave a Comment

Here we are in the dead of winter and even the most die-hard riders are having to crawl into their cages to get from Point A to Point B. I thought I’d share some advice about calling police after an accident because the decision is often less obvious when you’re in a car. Typically, if a motorcycle is involved in an accident, there’s no question whether you need to call police; the damages and injuries are usually significant. But what about car accidents? I’m seeing a disturbing trend. Actually, this shady insurance practice has been going on for a long time but I used to only see it with the… shall we say… less respectable insurance companies. Now, I’m seeing it across the industry. [Read more…] about Don’t Get Punked by Your Insurance Company

Rider Justice Fighting for Stricter Texting-While-Driving Laws

September 7, 2018 By Scott O'Sullivan Leave a Comment

In 2017, I worked closely with Colorado Senator Lois Court to draft and champion a bill that would have increased the fine for texting-while-driving from $50 to $500. A second offense and any offense thereafter would have been punishable with a fine of $750. [Read more…] about Rider Justice Fighting for Stricter Texting-While-Driving Laws

When Someone You Love is in a Motorcycle Accident

May 2, 2018 By Scott O'Sullivan Leave a Comment

By Scott O’Sullivan, The O’Sullivan Law Firm

Motorcycle riders are a tight-knit group. When I attend rallies, rides and other motorcycle events, I’m always inspired by the sense of camaraderie shared by bikers, who seem to walk around like they share the best secret in the world. They all love biking, bikers and bikes. They share a special bond. [Read more…] about When Someone You Love is in a Motorcycle Accident

Town of Morrison to join Golden on noise ordinances

May 2, 2018 By Laurie Montoya Leave a Comment

There are some changes taking effect immediately that all riders need to be aware before riding thru the Town of Morrison. Morrison law enforcement will be following part of the Golden Police department’s concept. Cops will now be listening for “unreasonable” noise and then followed by observation of the exhaust system modifications, and evidence of an EPA stamp.
